NSTR is working with an international Private Equity fund with a significant European footprint, and investment portfolio covering a range of services based sectors.

 

The successful candidate will work closely with European portfolio companies, collaborating with colleagues and portfolio company leadership to build and scale effective operational finance functions through the application of proven and reputable best practices, such as: developing the finance structure and reporting timelines, operating / budget models, pro-forma accounting, financial planning & analysis, KPIs and management information for existing and new portfolio companies.

 

Responsibilities:
  • For new investments you will have full pre-acquisition awareness including client background, sector analysis, access to due diligence report and recommendations on how best to engage with the business owner etc.
  • Portfolio Company annual budget process:
    • Building an operating budget model as required
    • Build out budget presentation templates for Executive level approval
    • Support general budget build as required
  • Portfolio Company monthly reporting deck:
    • Build out financial reporting templates: consolidated P&L
    • Build out Operational reporting: sales and marketing efficiency, capacity utilisation monitoring
    • Supporting deal team with provision of monthly financial information
  • Pro-forma accounting:
    • Build out financial mapping (leading to consolidated financial reporting) of Portfolio Company acquisitions
    • Build out Consolidated management reporting as required
    • Carry out Pro-forma accounting treatment of synergies (revenue and costs) as required
  • One-off analysis projects – creating executive level analysis:
    • Capital analysis projects
    • EBITDA optimisation: operating expenses analysis
  • Financial Systems:
    • Support in automating dataflow in the absence of financial systems
    • Support in scoping of ERP systems
    • Support implementation of ERP systems
  • Support Exit planning/ support:
    • Building out data room – financial and non-financial
    • Supporting deal team with investment case sell side modelling/ provision of information

 

Requirements:
  • Demonstrated Success in an Operating Role:
    • 2-3 years of hands-on experience in a FP&A role ideally at a high-growth SaaS company
    • Proven experience of working for a CFO and influencing senior management teams
  • Demonstrated Success in a Big 4 accountancy practice:
    • Qualified Chartered Accountant or European Country specific alternative
    • Proven technical background experience
    • Strong preference for Operational Transactional Services experience (ODD) or Transaction Services (FDD)
    • Financial modelling experience
  • Demonstrated Consulting Skills:
    • Proven experience partnering with a variety of stakeholders (internal & external) of varying levels of seniority
    • Ability to negotiate ambiguity and achieve superior results in a fast-paced and demanding environment
    • Ability to work across multiple companies, prioritize workload, leverage colleagues to meet established goals
    • Strong presence with a collaborative approach to gaining consensus and influencing decisions
    • Experience serving as a mentor and coach to leaders and decision makers
    • High energy, driven and confident with the ability to establish credibility and rapport
  • Strong Analytical Skills:
    • Comprehensive knowledge of SaaS metrics
    • Advanced Excel modelling with ability to build dynamic and robust models to support
    • Ability to identify subtleties in data and distill complex concepts into meaningful and relatable terms
    • Bias towards data, metrics and data-based decision-making
    • Ability to combine quantitative data with qualitative information to draw insights and conclusions
  • Language
    • English and another key European language is a requirement
