Opportunity for an experienced Payroll Administrator/Bookkeeper to join a firm of Chartered Accountants based in Bury on a full-time, permanent basis. 

Reporting to the Practice Manager, you will have full responsibility for the processing of client’s payrolls on a weekly, fortnightly and monthly basis. This is a full start to finish processing position for approximately 50 clients, with 1 – 80 employees on each payroll. 


  • Full start to finish payroll processing
  • Autoenrollment and pension assessment for multiple providers
  • Processing CIS wages and RTI submissions
  • Managing complex client queries in relation to pay
  • Submission of BACs payments for clients 
  • Maintaining accurate payroll records
  • Reporting, analysis and creation of payroll journals
  • Purchase Ledger – match, batch and coding invoices
  • Sales Ledger maintenance
  • Posting journals
  • Bank reconciliations

  • Previous experience within a similar position
  • Ability to process payroll from start to finish
  • Excellent knowledge of payroll legislation 
  • Ability to manually calculate payslips
  • Bookkeeping experience – preparing accounts to trial balance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a standalone position with minimal supervisor
  • Good knowledge of MS Excel
  • Experience using Sage is beneficial
